Flexion
(FL) Decreasing the inner angle of the joint
extension
(EXT) increasing the inner angle of the joint
abduction
(ABD) moving away from the middle line of the body
Adduction
(ADD) moving towards the middle line of the body
Lateral flexion
sidebending (neck and torso)
rotation
(ROT) rotating or pivoting around a long axis
circumduction
(CIRC) Circular movement
Dorsiflexion
(D.FL) flexing the ankle with the foot moving upwards
plantar flexion
(P.FL) flexing the ankle with the foot moving downwards
eversion/pronation
Turning the sole of the foot laterally (outwards)
inversion/ supination
turning the sole of the foot medially (inwards)
pronation
pronation rotating the forearm with the pal turning inwards
supination
rotating the forearm with the palm turning outwards
elevation
draw upwards (shoulders and hips)
depression
draw downwards (shoulders and hip)
Protraction
draw forward (shoulder)
retraction
draw back (shoulder)
Horizontal abduction
(H.ABD) Moving the arm in a horizontal plane away from the body
Horizontal adduction
(H.ADD) Moving the arm un a horizontal plane inwards across the body
Radial deviation/ abduction
(RD.ABD) Moving the arm in a horizontal plane inwards across the body
Ulna deviation/ adduction
(UL.ADD) With palm facing forward hand moves from wrist towards the body
