Nationalism
The strong feeling of loyalty to one’s country of origin. It can help states within countries to unite to defend but also can discard small ethnic cultures.
Imperialism
The idea is to cover the globe with colonies using each area for specific needs. Because of the unequal relationship between industrialized nations and undeveloped territories, the race for Africa began, countries wanted to share their culture and take over undeveloped countries.
Militarism
Glorification of the armed forces. The desire caused war because of the need to prove the country’s army was better. For example- Germany wanted to take over France to prove this.
Propaganda
The government’s information campaign to get the people to believe what the government wants them to believe.
Isolationism
The desire that the United States wanted to stay neutral in the war
Alliance System
The allied powers against the central powers in the war. An agreement between multiple countries to defend each other in war.
