Aphasia
Loss or impairment of the power to use/comprehend words, usually resulting from brain damage
(Also- motor aphasia)
Orthopnia
Dyspnea when lying flat, causes person to have to sleep sitting up
Calculi
Stones- kidney, gallbladder, etc
Anuria
Absence of urine
Dysuria
Difficulty voiding
Micturation
Voiding/urinating
Polyuria
Excess urine output
Oliguria
Diminished urine output
Proteinuria
Protein in the urine
Irrigate (think catheter)
Flushing catheter with sterile saline, into bladder

Supine position

Head of bed elevated between 60-90 degrees, as high as possible
Anasarca
Massive generalized edema, develops when there is decreased kidney function and fluid lost to interstitial spaces
Alimentary canal
Entire passage that food passes along from mouth to anus
Parenterally
Drug administration to a route other than alimentary canal
Angina
Severe pain, often referring to angina pectoris (chest pains), often accompanied by choking, can radiate down left arm, usually caused by lack of perfusion to heart muscle
