Tropical Rainforest
Coniferous or broad leaf forests that occur in the temperate zone and receive heavy rainfall
Temperate Rainforest
Temperate, broad leaf forests that are dominated by trees that lose their leaves each year
Temperate Deciduous Rain forest
Swampy coniferous forests of high, northern latitudes
Taiga
A rolling grassland scattered with shrubs and isolated trees.
Savanna
A division of larger biome grouping of grasslands
Temperate grasslands
Vegetation consisting mostly of tangled shrubs or thorny bushes
Chaparral
Land where little rain occurs. Lack of vegetation.
Desert
Where tree growth is hindered by low temperatures and short growing seasons.
Tundra
Water deep enough so light doesn’t hit the bottom:

Lakes and ponds
A place where plants that make up the area covered in water are primarily woody plants or trees
Swamp
Defined as having no woody plants.
Marsh
A large natural stream of water flowing in a channel to a sea, lake or another stream
River
The tidal mouth of a large river, where the tide meets the stream
Estuary
A ridge of rock in the sea formed by the growth and deposit of coral
