Government
It is a system that sets up and enforces a society’s laws and institutions. Society’s include states, cities, families, sports, countries, towns, counties, provinces, schools, sort of the UN, and businesses, etc.
Direct Democracy
All citizens get to debate/discuss/vote on all issues/laws; everyone has a vote(this is common in smaller groups). Ex. Ancient Greece and Indigenous Nations. Pros: More people are involved, voices are heard(makes people happy). Cons: Chaotic/violence, inefficient(more time), and TOO MANY OPTIONS.
Representative democracy
- People work for representatives who are going to represent their ideas and interests.
- Voters in this are called constituents
- Representatives make bills/laws that have their constituents interests in mind(also makes people happy). Ex. USA, Japan, South Korea. Pros: Less time(efficient), Less people means less chaos(fewer cooks in the kitchen) Voting for someone who has your idea in mind. Cons: Corrupt Reps, not everyone has their voice heard, the Reps make not do things they say they’ll do.
