This is a group of disease (including alzheimer’s) characterized by memory loss, decline in mental & emotional functioning. It is part of the aging process

It can either be formal (paid) or informal (unpaid)

It is a limitation in physical, mental, or social activity
DISABILITY
Knowing, intentional, negligent act by a caregiver or other people that causes serious risk or harm to vulnerable adult
ELDER ABUSE
It is a branch of medicine focusing on the physiology & ailments associated w/ aging process

A document stating a person’s preferences for future medical decisions

General term describes range of medical, nursing, custodial, social, community services designed to help people with chronic health impairments or forms of dementia

Evaluation of a person’s physical/ mental status. used to create a care plan and to make decisions about possible need for care

A facility licensed by the state to offer residents personal care & skilled nursing care on a 24 hr basis

Branch of medicine concerned with problems & care of older people
