This is a group of disease (including alzheimer’s) characterized by memory loss, decline in mental & emotional functioning. It is part of the aging process

It can either be formal (paid) or informal (unpaid)

It is a limitation in physical, mental, or social activity
DISABILITY
Knowing, intentional, negligent act by a caregiver or other people that causes serious risk or harm to vulnerable adult
ELDER ABUSE
It is a branch of medicine focusing on the physiology & ailments associated w/ aging process

General term describes range of medical, nursing, custodial, social, community services designed to help people with chronic health impairments or forms of dementia

Gerontological nurse
They can be either be specialist or generalist who offers complete comprehensive nursing care to older persons by combining basic nursing process of ADPIE with specialized knowledge of aging
NURSE GERONTOLOGIST
Interdisciplinary field that studies the process of aging & aging population. Involves psychology, biology, and other fields
