A

fully assembled, infective virus particle

- contains genetic material surrounded by a protein shell and in some cases a lipid envelope

Q

Capsomer

A

capsids are composed of smaller repetitive subunits termed capsomers

  • Capsomers are arranged in two fundamental patterns of structural symmetry:
    • Iscosahedral
    • Helical

Q

Viral envelop

A

In many but not all viruses. This is a lipid membrane that surrounds the capsid
All Helical shaped viruses are surrounded in an envelppe
