Terminology Flashcards
What is Va?
Maneauvering Speed - the max speed at which abrupt control movements may be used without overstressing the airframe
What is Vfe?
Maximum flap extended speed - highest permissible speeds with wing flaps in extended positions
What is Vno?
Max Structural Cruising Speed - speed that should not be exceeded except in smooth air and then only with caution
Vne?
Never exceed speed
Vs?
Stalling speed
Vso?
Minimum Steady Flight Speed - minimum speed at which the airplane is controllable in the landing configuration at the most forward center of gravity
Vx?
Best Angle of Climb - results in the greatest gain in altitude in a given horizontal distance (for short field take offs. Gets you the most altitude in the least amount of distance over the ground)
Vy?
Best Rate of Climb - gives you the greatest gain in altitude in a given time ( 730ft per min)
What is Standard Empty Weight?
Weight of the AC, including unusable fuel, full oil, and full operating fluids
What is Basic Empty Weight?
The SEW plus optional equipmnt
What is the Useful Load?
Difference between Basic Empty Weight and Max Ramp Weight
