place in the pool where swimmer trains, warms up and cools down or competes in a heat. Two lane lines or a lane line and a wall can make up a line
lane
stretch of rope or wire, usually filled with round, plastic absorbers to minimize waves. Keep swimmers from swimming all over the place.
Lane lines
Swimming down and back the length of the pool
Lap
fundamental body position in swimming. done after a dive and off every turn.
Streamlines
underwater somersaults used in backstroke and freestyle that allows swimmer to push off from the wall for the next length.
tumble turns
place in the pool where a swimmer will start, finish and turn during a practice or meet. Where swimmers rest without interrupting someone.
