Term 1 Flashcards
Name parts found in Eucaryotic cells
Nucleus, Cytoplasm, Golgi Apparatus, Soft endoplasmic reticulum(SER), Rough endoplasmic Reticulum(RER).
What is the formula for magnification?
Magnification = size of image/size of real object
What is the formula for total magnification?
Total Magnification = Magnification of eyepiece * magnification of objective lens
Define the structure and function of the tonoplast
Structure - Lipid Bilayer, semi-permeable
Function - Work to maintain turgor pressure in the cell. They do this by keeping an ion balance inside and outside of the cell.
Define the structure and function of the amylopasts
Structure - plastids derived from a group of plastids known as leucoplasts.
Function - Produce and store starch within internal membrane compartments. They are also believed to be involved in gravity sensing and helping plant roots grow in a downward direction.
Define the structure and function of the plasmodesmata
Structure - Channel through the cell wall.
Function - Allow molecules and substances and substances to move back and forth as needed.
Define the role of pits.
Parts of a plant cell walls which allows the exchange of fluids.
Name different types of pits.
Simple pits Bordered pits Half bordered pit pair Blind pits Compound pits
