He promised the promised land, protection and he promised Abraham many descendants

He promised to put trust in god, do what god wants and leave his family.

Who was Abraham?
Abraham was a religious man who was the patriarch of Judaism (The founding father) of the religon he was told by god to leave everything behind and go to a distant place he followed gods orders and then he was asked to sacrifice his son Isaac he obeyed god but before he sacrificed his son he stoped him and god struck a covenant with Abraham he said that Abraham would have many descendants called the Jews, he would be the king, he promised Abraham protection, the promised land, that Abraham’s name would be remembered for ever and that Abraham would be blessed, in return Abraham agreed to leave his family, do what god wants put trust in god. This was one of the famous covenants god made with a human the other was Moses but that is way later on.
Who was Moses (story of the Israelites)
Moses was a simple shepherd who was wondering one day when he saw a burning bush he rushed to it but instead of burning up it spoke it was god’s voice god told Moses about the Israelites their pain their suffering the Egyptians using them as slaves, god then asked Moses to go free the Israelites, so Moses set of on a long journey when he arrived he went to the pharaoh and asked the pharaoh to free the Israelites the pharaoh laughed and said no, Moses asked god for help and god said “ask him again and if he says no i will punish him with 10 deadly plagues” Moses went back the next day and the pharaoh still said no so god unleashed 10 horrible plagues to the Egyptians locusts ate the crops the rivers turned to blood and worst of all a angel of death went to everyone’s door and killed their firstborn child how did the Jews evade this you may ask well they put blood on their doors in an X to stop the angel from killing their newborn, then they had a simple meal of unrisen bread and some other simple foods (which is still eaten today as a celebration) then they ran with Moses at night, when the pharaohs woke up they chased the Israelites and cornered them but Moses split the Red Sea with his staff and then then the Israelites crossed the Egyptians tried to follow but were crushed by the Red Sea when it closed.
What is pesach
A time to celebrate the Israelites getting freed from slavery and their children not getting killed by the angel of death they eat a simple meal.
What food do they eat at pesach and why?
Bitter herbs: represents the bitterness of slavery. egg: not to be eaten and roasted as a symbol of new life. Green veg and salt water: represents the tears of the slaves. Lamb bone: represents the lambs that were sacrificed. Charoset: represents the concrete the slaves made.
