LOCATION : Bilateral
PAIN : Band-like tightening, mild intensity
OTHER SYMPTOMS : None (usually)
DURATION : 30 mins +

What are the risk Factors for a tension headache?
A
Mental tension, stress, missing meals, fatigue

How do you treat an ongoing tension headache (acute vs chronic)?
A
ACUTE : Aspirin, NSAIDs, Paracetamol (NO opioids)
CHRONIC : Anti-depressants, muscle relaxants (e.g. tizanidine), non-drug therapies (e.g. acupuncture)
[Note : chronic tension headaches are defined as occurring >7 days/month]
