Past complete
-Li-, ex: I knew = Nilijua
Present simple / progressive
-na-, ex: I know = Ninajua
Future
-ta-, ex: I will know = Nitajua
Past imperfect
-me-, ex: I have known = Nimejua
Habitual tense
No SP or TM, just “hu” before verb. Need either noun or pronoun. For repeated actions, no beginning or end. Often used with words like every (kila) or every day (kila siku). Ex: Mimi, hucheza kila jioni.
Narrative tense
In list of past verbs, first verb conjugated normally, all following replace “li” with “ka.” Ex: Jana, niliamka, nikavaa, nikaenda kwa ofisi.
Continuous progressive in past & future
Verb is conjugated as in present progressive (ex: ninakunywa), but add in “kuwa” before that’s conjugated in past or future. Ex: Nitakuwa ninakunywa… Or: Nilikuwa ninakunywa…
