Look L, R, L, Rearviews
- WHEN STOPPED IN TRAFFIC
Car length of space between you and vehicle ahead so you can pull around if it stalls or have cushion if it turns.

After vehicle ahead moves. Also check rearviews.
- FOLLOWING TIMES
Under 30 mph = 4-6 sec.
Over 30 mph = 6-8 sec.
Avoid fixation and obtain eye-lead time

Maintain 8-12 sec.
Keeps eyes ahead of wheels
Will be your depth of focus most of the time

Occupied cars at the curb = threat
Driver could exit vehicle or pull away from curb

Must get their attention
Communicate with horn (friendly), lights, signals
Eye contact=reasonably predictable actions to avoid danger
