temperature Flashcards
what is temperature?
it is the measure of the degree of hotness of an object.
what is heat?
the amount of thermal energy that is being transferred from a hotter region to colder region
how do we measure temperature?
one device is thermometer.
what are thermometric properties?
a property that changes with temperature
what assumption do we make for thermometers?
that the physical property varies linearly with temperature.
what is the ice point and steam point?
ice will stay at 0 degree Celsius while changing from solid to liquid and water will stay at 100 degrees Celsius when changing state from liquid to gas.
what does thermometric property does the thermocouple depend on?
the electromotive force
what are the advantages of using thermocouple?
-it can respond quickly to changes in temperature
-ability to measure temperatures of a single point
-able to measure high temperatures up to 1000+ degrees
