Tell Me - Bonnet

Question 1

Open the bonnet and tell me how you would check that the engine has sufficient oil.

Answer 1

1. Open the bonnet
2. Point at the dipstick
3. Pull dipstick out and clean it
4. Put it back in and pull it back out
5. An oily mark on the dipstick should be between the minimum and maximum markings

Open the bonnet and tell me how you would check that the engine has sufficient engine coolant.

Answer 2

1. Open the bonnet
2. Point to the engine coolant
3. The levels should be between the maximum and minimum markings
4. You would only open it when it’s cold

Open the bonnet and tell me how you would check that you have a safe level of hydraulic brake fluid.

1. Open the bonnet
2. Point to the break fluid
3. Break fluid should be between the maximum and minimum markings

How do you open the bonnet?

Answer 4

1. Pull the catch on the passenger side up
2. Go to the front of the car
3. Push the catch, which is just right of the centre of the car, left.
4. Hold it as you start to lift the bonnet up.
5. Pull the bonnet stay up into the hold and make sure that it is secure.

How do you close the bonnet?

Answer 5

1. Lift the bonnet slightly as you pull the bonnet stay out of the hole.
2. Push the bonnet stay back into the clip.
3. Lower the bonnet.
