Tech Test knowledge Flashcards
tech study
Tools we used in the workshop. What did we use for our spoons?
We used a chisel, mallet, Drill press, Scroll-saw, hand-saw, laser, sandpaper, rasp, bobbing sander, card scraper, oil, and pencil
What is sustainability? Write why sustainability is an important factor in design.
Sustainability is fulfilling human needs and fulfilling the environment’s needs. Sustainability is an important factor in our design because it helps energy management and uses Renewable resources to lessen carbon energy.
- Differences between untreated wood to treated wood, and possible uses of timber.
If Timber is open to severe weather climates, it could lead to big cracks. Treated wood has greater resistance to the elements and pests than untreated wood, it’s the opposite. Varnish is spread onto it to add protection, is more durable, lasts longer, and looks better, if spill anything you can easily wipe it off.
Approximately how many years does it take for plastic to break down?
According to Google, Plastic takes 450 years to break down
Why timber is renewable
Additional resources can be grown to replace any wood that is cut down.
Why is plastic non-renewable
Made from fossil fuels such as coal.
- Factors affecting the building of bridges?

What is Ductile?
Ductility is the ability of a material to be drawn or plastically deformed without fracture.
What is Rigid?
Something rigid is something extremely severe or stern.
Forces of Archery
2 Forces used in archery include Muscle and elastic.
What is Compression?
Compression is the act of pressing something into a smaller space or putting pressure on it from different sides until it gets smaller.
What is Tension?
Tension is the state of being stretched tight.
