Sequential Ordered Words
First, Second, Third.
Fallowing a set order.
Chronological Ordered Words
Adverbs; One day, since, when, often,
Events in an order in which they happen and requires a time element.
Anedcote
A short story that illustrates a concept but is not the main idea.
Expository
Informs, explains, or tells how to.
Only uses facts and examples.
Uses logical order (step by step, least to most important…etc)
Cause and Effect
Cause is WHY something happens.
Effect is WHAT happened.
-due to, consequently, as a result…
Fact vs. Opinion
Fact: can be proven true or false.
Opinion: Used to mislead or persuade a reader.
Stereotype vs Bias
Stereotypes: writer uses general statements. Writer might have facts based upon researched biases and falsely supported assumptions
Bias: Writer uses emotionally charged word choice and figurative language. Lacks validations.
Primary Sources
Artifacts, letters, recordings, images and other media that have not been altered from their original state.
If the source itself is the only thing separating the reader from its creator.
Secondary Source
Secondhand account of events.
Tertiary Source
A compilation of primary and secondary sources.
