How to get ready for Team contribution
1) Dependent (“you tell me”): habits 1-3
2) Independent (“I can work it out”): habits 4-6
3)Interdependent (“Let’s combine our talents and join forces to excel”): habit 7
Covey’s habits 1-3 (definition)
*Internal preparation
a) The individual needs to shy away from being dependent (being told what must be done) to becoming independent (being aware and willing for his/her possible contribution to the common good
Covey’s habits 1-3
1) Individual must be proactive. Willing to achieve, have the right attitude, wants to participate with others, can see his role.
2)Begin with an end in mind. Can isolate the “vital few” from the “trivial many”
3) Put first things first; time and effort into the “vital few”
Covey’s habits 4-6
*External challenges
4)Interpersonal leadership. Believe we can all win if we combine our talents: “win-win”
5) Emphatic communications (listen with your ear and heart). Seek first to understand, then to be understood.
6) Creative cooperation; synergize 1+1>2
