The study or science of teaching and is specifically referring to teaching children and adolescents.
Pedagogy
The “thinking” domain, includes 6 intellectual abilities: knowing, comprehending, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating.
Cognitive Domain
The “feeling” domain, includes the depth of emotion w/ feelings, emotions, interests, attitudes and appreciations.
Affective Domain
The “skill” domain includes motor skills and the act of doing.
Psychomotor domain
Ability to obtain, read, understand and apply health info in making appropriate healthcare decisions.
Health Literacy
The art and science of teaching adults.
Andragogy
A competent, experienced professional who develop a relationship w/ a novice for the purpose of providing advice, support, info and feedback in order to encourage development of the individual.
Mentor
An experienced nurse who provides knowledge and emotional support and clarification of role expectations on a one-to-one basis.
Preceptor
Process on a personal level of helping an individual achieve a higher potential.
Coaching
Process by which people develop and maintain relationships w/in and outside the profession.
