TD14 Flashcards

1
Q

What are DEC/EDECU fault codes? How are DEC/EDECU fault codes displayed?

A

Codes that indicate a failure in the form of Q indications.

If a failure occurred on a selected input signal, the failed component or related circuit will be identifed by a pre-selected fault code displayed as a Q value.

Q

Discuss the controls and functions of the digital ICS Panel.

ICS, VOX, HOT MIC, CALL, RMT, BU, ICU

A

ICS - Default mode enabled after initialization of the ICS is complete. ICS cannot be turned off.

VOX - Provides for hands-off and foot-off voice activated keying of the ICS interphone or the PVT interphone.

HOT MIC - Provides for constant keying of the ICS interphone.

Call - (Call override) mode overrides all other interphone communications at all operator stations, except for warnings and alerts.

RMT - Enables RAD SEL switch on the collective sticks for radio and selections.

BU - Provides both pilots the capability to bypass the ICS digital bus and function in a degraded
analog mode (HOT MIC and VOX are not available).

ICU - Illumination indicates that the digital link between that ICS panel and the ICU has been broken.

Q

The ICS panel on the UH-60M features a VOX feature, what are the procedures for
adjusting the VOX sensitivity?

A
  1. Press VOX mode pushbutton; VOX light illuminates indicating VOX is engaged.
  2. If VOX sensitivity control is desired, press the VOX mode pushbutton for 2 seconds;
VOX light fashes; adjust VOX sensitivity with the MVOL control as desired. After three seconds of no adjustments on the MVOL control, the VOX indicator will stop
fashing and returns to the default setting.

Q

What is the CAUTION associated with inserting the PCMCIA cards into the DTS?

A

Do not force PCMCIA cards into the DTS slot. Damage to the Data Transfer Unit (DTU) or PCMCIA card may occur. PCMCIA cards can only be inserted into the DTU with the INSERT with label facing AFT.

Q

Identify the following Master Warning Panel warnings and what causes each to appear? What is the CAUTION with warning panel A?

A

1/#2 ENG OUT - No. 1/No. 2 engine NG is below 55%.

MASTER CAUTION PRESS TO RESET - Indicates a caution on the EICAS display or Caution/Advisory pop-up
window has been actuated by failed system. (Push to reset)

FIRE - Indicates a fire detector has actuated a fre warning circuit.

LOW ROTOR R.P.M - NR is below approximately 96%.

Q

When are operator and crew member checklists required to be used? When may they not be used? Within the UH-60M -10, what do the words shall, should and may indicate?

A

Operator and crewmember checklists will be used for preflight through before leaving aircraft checks. While airborne, when time does not permit the utilization of the checklist or when its use would cause a safety hazard, required
checks may be accomplished from memory.

The word shall is used to indicate a mandatory requirement. The word will is used to express a declaration of purpose or procedural result. The word should is used to indicate a non-mandatory but preferred method of accomplishment. The word may is used to indicate an acceptable method of accomplishment.

Q

How is the EMER SE-IAS (Item 15) derived from the PPC? When do I have to use this EMER SE-IAS and must I have one or two EMER SE-IAS’s?

A

(1) This airspeed is selected from the MIN/MAXIAS (SINGLE ENGINE) range computed in item 29, CRUISE data.

(2) Is used immediately following an emergency that requires adjustment to single-engine airspeed. Normally only one EMER SE-IAS is selected. However, when the MIN/MAX-IAS (SINGLE ENGINE) range, item 29, is wide, the crew may select two safe single-engine airspeeds, one slow and one fast based on mission profile, modes of flight, environmental conditions or other factors.

Q

What is “blowback” and what pilot action is required to compensate for it?

A

When blade flapping has compensated for dissymmetry of lift, the rotor disk is tilted to the rear, called blowback. The maximum upflap occurring over the nose and themaximum downflap occurring over the tail cause blowback. This would cause airspeed to decrease. The aviatoruses cyclic feathering to compensate for dissymmetry of lift allowing the aviator to control the attitude of therotor disk.
