TD 57 Flashcards
What’s the purpose of an IFR flight plan?
Whats the purpose of a VFR flight plan?
Communicate pilots desires to ATC
Enables SAR to ID an overdue ACFT/where to look
For fuel and arrival time planning, explain how to compute ETE to an alternate airfield
Include time from: MAP to holding point + 1 circuit in pattern. Add missed hold point to alternate + approach/land time
What’s the purpose of TFR’s and how do pilots know they’re in effect?
-Protection from hazards
Protect humanitarian ACFT during disasters
- Space agency operations
- prevent ACFT congestion
- Presidential flights
NOTAMS
Who is responsible for/what are the procedures for closing the IFR flight plans according to:
AR 95-1
GP
AIM
AR 95-1: PC ensures it’s closed per DOD FLIP
GP: Tower/Base Ops after landing. Or pilot by radio/phone to FSS
AIM: PC notifies FSS or ATC
Concerning adherence to air traffic clearance what is the most important and guiding principle to remember?
Most recent ATC clearance has precedence over the previous one.
Which parts of an ATC clearance should pilots read back?
Altitude assignments/restrictions
Radar vectors
When military pilots are cleared for an approach, must they report the newly assigned or designated altitude when they acknowledge an approach clearance, or can they simply state they are leaving their current altitude for approach?
No requirements for readback on approach
