Task F Techniques Of Flight Instruction Flashcards
Obstacles to learning during flight instruction (WAAIPF)
Worry/ lack of interest
Anxiety
Apathy due to inadequate instruction
Impatience (to get to fun stuff)
Physical discomfort (illness fatigue dehydration)
Feelings of unfair treatment
Demonstration-performance training delivery
Explanation

Learner performance
Instructor supervision

OR
Instructor tells/does
Lerner tells/instructor does
Lerner tells/learner does
Sterile cockpit
Avoiding non-essential activities during critical phases of flight:
Taxi, takeoff, landing and all operations below 10,000 ft other than Cruise
Use of distractions
FAA encourages instructors to simulate scenarios that would cause learner to be distracted.
Integrated flight instruction
Use outside visual references and flight instruments. Helps with competency. And helps pilots see and avoid. ( Clearing turns, right away rules)
Aeronautical decision making (adm)
A systematic approach to the mental process used by pilots to consistently determine the best course of action in response to a given set of circumstances
The decision-making process in ADM
(DCIE)
Define (the problem)
Choose (course of action)
Implement (decision)
Evaluate (outcome)
OODA loops
Factors affecting decision making in ADM (MIRIA)
Macho (taking chances is foolish)
Invulnerability (it could happen to me)
Resignation (I’m not helpless I can make a difference)
Impulsivity (not so fast think first
Anti authority (follow the rules. They are usually right)
Stress Management in ADM
Physical, physiological and psychological
Use of resources in ADM
Use all your resources:
Internal
External
Workload Management in ADM
Prioritize and execute
Recognize when you have a high workload and try to mitigate for it by staying ahead of the airplane.
DECIDE MODEL
Define
estimate (need to react)
Choose (course of action)
Identify solutions
Do
Evaluate
