How long is a medical valid for?
Under 40 years old
1st - 12 months then drops to a 3rd class for 48 months
2nd - 12 months then drops to a 3rd class for 48 months
3rd - 60 months
Over 40 years old
1st - 6 months the drops to a 2nd for 6 months then a 3rd for 12 months
2nd - 12 months then drops to a 3rd for 12 months
3rd - 24 months

Required documents to exercise private pilot privileges
- Government issued ID
- Valid medical
- Private pilot license
What are the eligibility requirements for a private pilot certificate
- Be at least 17 years of age
- Be able to read, write, and understand English
- Hold at least a 3rd class medical certificate
- Received the required ground and flight endorsements
- Meet the applicable aeronautical experience requirements
- Passed the required knowledge and practical exams

What are the requirements to remain current as a private pilot?
- A flight review completed within the last 24 months in tan aircraft for which the pilot is rated in by an authorized instructor and received a logbook endorsement that the review was satisfactorily completed
- to carry passenger a pilot within the proceeding 90 days must have:
- completed 3 takeoff and landings as sole manipulator of controls in an aircraft of the same category and class.
- If the aircraft is a tailwheel the landings must have been made to a full stop in an aircraft with a tailwheel.
- if operations will be conducted 1 hour after sunset and 1 hour before sunrise with passengers on board, the PIC must have made 3 take off and landings to a full stop in the same category and class of aircraft to be used
What are the basic med privileges and limitations?
- Flight must be conducted within the United States
- Flight must be conducted under 18,000FT MSL
- Max takeoff weight must be less than 6,000lbs
- 250kts max speed
- 6 seats max in the plane
- Carry up to 5 passengers
- Completed basic med course
- Completed basic med docs
Requirements that must be met to fly under BasicMed
- Hold a current and valid US Driver license
- Hold or have held a medical certificate issued by the FAA at any point afte July 14, 2006
- Answer the health questions on the comprehensive medical examination checklist (CMEC)
- Get your physical examination by any state licensed physician and have that physician complete the CMEC
