Mitsui-OSK (MOL)
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) is an ocean shipping company that whose fleet ranges from specialized dry bulkers for iron ore, coal, and wood chips to tankers that transport crude oil and LNG, and car carriers and containerships that deliver a variety of finished products. MOL’s fleet includes Very Large Crude Oil Carriers (VLCCs) of more than 200,000 DWT and smaller vessels called Aframax tankers, contributing to the safe delivery of crude oil all around the world. The fleet also has various types of vessels that meet specific cargo characteristics - product tankers that transport refined petroleum products such as gas oils, naphtha, and gasoline, chemical tankers and methanol carriers that transport liquid chemical products, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers. NITC
The National Iranian Tanker Co. transports Iranian crude to export markets and is also responsible for the distribution of oil products to Iranian ports and island ports and islands located in the Persian Gulf.
The company, which operates the largest tanker fleet in the Middle East, also acts as an independent entity in contracts with foreign concerns for crude oil transportation based on prevailing international freight rates.
NITC, in observance of IMO (International Maritime Organization) regulations, has a huge project for replacing tankers, including the construction and purchase of 25 tankers with the total capacity of 6 million tons.
In recent years, NITC has taken great steps towards accomplishing enhanced management systems, maritime safety and transport, the results of which have been achieving an array of awards obtained including ISO 9002, ISO 14001 (for management), PMS (for maintenance and repair system), STCW (for maritime supervision systems) and ISMC (for maritime safety management).
NITC shares have recently been offered to private sector.

Euronav can also supply and operate Floating, Storage and Offloading (FSO) vessels through conversion or newbuilding. Euronav is able to bring added value to its offshore projects through building supervision or construction, engineering and in-house management.

Sovcomflot (SCF) Group
Sovcomflot is Russia’s largest shipping company, and one of the global leaders in the maritime transportation of hydrocarbons, as well as the servicing and support of offshore exploration and oil & gas production.
The company’s fleet (owned & chartered) specialises in hydrocarbon transportation from regions with challenging icy conditions and includes 140 vessels with a combined deadweight of 12,282,344 tonnes with the average age of 7 years. A third of these vessels have a high ice class.
The fleet comprises:
- LNG- and petroleum gas carriers;
- Crude oil carriers of the tanker sizes VLCC, Suezmax, Aframax and Panamax, including shuttle tankers;
- Product-carriers of the tanker sizes MR, LR I, LR II and Handysize;
- Ice-breaking supply vessels;
- Research vessels for offshore geophysical exploration;
- Panamax bulk carriers;
- Low-tonnage chemical tankers and ships for transporting asphalt and bitumen;

Russia
Bahri/Vela
Namely, the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia or NSCSA (Bahri) and Vela, a subsidiary of the world’s largest producer and exporter of oil, Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco), have formed an alliance, which, as explained by Jasser, involves a cash payment of $832.7 million, including the issuance of 7.875 million new shares at SR 22.25 per share. As a result, Aramco will own 20 percent of Bahri shares.
The merger builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked in 2012 and will see creation of a joint fleet.
The deal includes shifting the whole fleet of Vela, consisting of 14 VLCCs used for floating storage, 5 refined petroleum product tankers, all crew of Vela’s carriers, employees and part of its business systems, so that they can be integrated within Bahri’s structure. The first ship transfer is envisaged for the third quarter and the expected last ship transfer will be in the fourth quarter.
