What is Oscar Offensive Mode?
Where the result of the dynamic risk assessment determines that it is as safe as reasonably practicable to commit firefighters to the hazard area the incident will be operating in “Offensive” Mode.

What is Delta Defensive Mode?
If, following the risk assessment process, it is deemed that the risk to firefighters is too great then the decision will be made not to commit crews into the risk area; this will result in the incident operating in “Defensive” mode.
The risk outweighs the benefit.
What is No Overall Mode?
At any incident that has been sectorised it is possible that individual will sectors will be operating in different tactical modes. When this the case the tactical mode for the incident will be declared as “No Overall Mode”. In the event that all sectors are operating in Offensive Mode or Defensive Mode, the incident tactical mode will be declared Offensive or Defensive as appropriate.
