What does a language question entail
You can analyse any aspect of language such as: imagery, word choice, sentence structure or sound techniques.
If a language question was worth 4 marks how many quotes with analysis must you do?

What does a list do?
Emphasises the number or variety of something.
What does parenthesis do?
It adds extra information to a sentence that if not present, the sentence would still be grammatically correct.
What does a colon do?
Introduces a list or an argument.
What does a semi-colon do?
It separate opposing arguments or clauses as well as introducing new ones.
What is the effect of caesura?
It creates a matter of fact tone which indicates a fact or unquestionable argument.
What is the effect of enjambement?
To create a relaxed style or to place emphasis on the final word of a line.
What is iambic pentameter?
When there are five consecutive lines in a poem that all have ten syllables in them.
What is the purpose of italics?
To indicate the persona’s or a character’s thoughts.
