Oesophagus
Carry food to stomach and recieve food from the mouth

Mechanical digestion (as teeth grind and break food to smaller pieces)
Amalyse (digest carbohydrates into glucose)

Hold foods while it’s being mixed with enzymes
Protease, hydrochloric acid, amino acids

Liver
Processes the blood containing nutrients absorbed from small intestine. Detoxifies harmfull chemicals and makes chemicals.

Gall Bladder

Is a storage sack for excess bile
Bile

Pancreas
What chemicals are present?
Is a cheif factory for digestive enzymes. The enzymes break down protein, fats and carbs. It also makes insulin.
Carbohydrase, lipase, protease
State the function:
Small intestine
What chemicals are present?
Bile produced in liver and stored in gall bladder enters here. Alkaline- Neutralises stomach acid, emulsifies fats and nutrients are absorbed into the blood through villi.

State the function:
Large intestine
Connects small intestine to rectum. Responsible for processing waste. As water passes, water is removed.

Rectum
Connects colon to anus. Receives stool from large intestine. Lets person know there is a stool and holds it.
State the function:
Anus
Muscles that line the pelvis (pelvic floor muscles) and 2 other muscles called anal sphinetes (internal, external)
