T23 Flashcards
How many diesel generators are in a type 23 and where are they?
4
Two in the forward auxiliary machine room
Two in the upper auxiliary machine room
What is the output of the diesel generators on a type 23?
1.3 MW, 600 V, 61.2 Hz, 3 phase
What are the characteristics of the generators in the forward auxiliary machine room?
Double rafted
Acoustically enclosed
What are the characteristics of the generators in the upper auxiliary machine room?
Single raft mounted
Not enclosed
Why is the 450 V system not used?
Wouldn’t have given a large enough range of speed when using the electrical propulsion system.
What 7 breakers are used in the distribution system?
Supply breaker Interconnector breaker Shore supply/ship alongside breaker Electric motor breaker Motor generator feeder breaker Motor generator supply breaker Diesel generator alternative supply breaker
What are the voltages of the two bus bars in each switchboard?
600 V
450 V
What is the generator test box used for?
For testing and trials of the main generators.
What is the generator test kit box connected to?
A link box.
What does a link box do?
Connects fwd and aft 600 V bus bars together, connects the main generators to the generator test box.
What is the 600 V supply used for?
For the propulsion system.
In a type 23, where is the ROCOS and where is it operated from?
In the EDP, operated from the SCC.
What are the three types of EDPs in a type 23?
Type 1
Type 2
Type 3
What will type 1 and type 2 EDPs be fitted with?
ACOS or ROCOS
What are the characteristics of a type 3 EDP?
Single input
Multiple circuits feeding off input
Shedable EDP
