Q

What are the positives and negatives of a light microscope?

A
  • Small and easy to use
  • Relatively cheap
  • Resolution is limited to 0.2 μm
  • Any details less than 0.2 μm will appear blurry
  • Can’t study subcellular structures

Q

What are the positives and negatives of an electron microscope?

A
  • Hard to use
  • Expensive
  • Uses electrons instead of light
  • Maximum resolution is 0.1 nm
  • 2000 x better resolution than light microscopes.
  • Can be used to study subcellular structures.
