T helper cells (specific immune system) Flashcards
1
Q
What do T helper 1 cells do ?
A
1- When Dendritic cells pick up viruses or bacteria or LPS , IL12 is produced. This turns the CD4 cell into a T-helper 1 cell (TH1). This then makes interferon Gamma and tells its B cells to produce IgG.
2
Q
What do TH2 cells do ?
A
2- When dendritic cells pick up parasites, they produce IL4. This turns T CD4 cells into T-helper 2 cells. This makes IL4, which tells the B cells to produce IgE.
3
Q
What happens when there is no infection ?
A
3- When there is nothing, the dendritic cell will continuously produce IL-10 because nothing is happening, and all the CD4 cells will be T regulatory cells. Nothing is happening but IgA is produced.
