T-38 DASH-1 SECTION I (THROTTLES) Flashcards
The throttles are provided with a roller ramp-type force gradient which must be overcome to move the throttles from ____ to ____ or from ____ to ____
MIL to MAX
IDLE to OFF
The throttles in the front cockpit (FCP) are equipped with ____ which must be raised before the throttles in either cockpit can be retarted from ____ to ____.
fingerlifts; IDLE to OFF
What happens when the throttles are placed to OFF?
-mechanically shut off fuel to the engine at the main fuel control
-electrically shut off fuel to the engine fuel shutoff valves
What does the throttle gate do?
When engaged, the throttle gate prevents the throttles from being moved to the OFF position (only in the FCP)
NOTE:
Throttle movement should be conservative to help minimize ____. Abrupt or rapid throttle movements should be avoided.
What is a throttle burst? Throttle bursts should be avoided if possible. These procedures allow the variable exhaust nozzle to keep pace and math the fuel flow to help to minimize the possibility of compressor blade failures.
Blade failures
Throttle movement in 1 second or less from idle revolutions to MIL
What things are located on the throttles?
-UHF/VFH microphone
-Speed brake
-Weapon mode switch
-Countermeasures dispenser switch
