AO1 - what are the aims of ACT?
->the goals of ACT are to reduce hospitalisation rates & help clients adapt to life in the community
->ACT was designed to help recently discharged persons with severe mental illness to live a normal life in the community

AO1 - how does ACT work? (1)
->a multidisciplinary team conduct intensive case management in which the tear members share a caseload, have high frequency of patient contact (typically at least once a week, low patient to staff ratios and to provide outreach to patients in the community
->ACT is most appropriate for individuals who are at high risk for repeated hospitalisations & have difficulty remaining in traditional mental health
treatment.

AO1 - how does ACT work? (2)
->ACT teams include psychiatrists as well as other mental health professionals in medication management, rehabilitation, and social services
->ACT treatment is typically ongoing rather than time-limited, available 24 hrs a day, a highly individualised to each client’s changing needs
