Systems - Windows and Doors Flashcards
Flight deck door description
*Penetration resistant door.
*Locked by 3 electronic locking strikes.
*Keypad in cabin, code required to request entry, pilots then use cockpit door panel to allow or deny.
*If denied, won’t buzz again for 15 minutes (switching to unlock shortly with revert to normal)
*If ignored, door will unlock for 5 seconds after 45 seconds
*buzzing for more than 45 seconds means emergency code has been entered
*flap for escape from cockpit side only
*manual d handle for flight crew to unlock
*unlocks if power is locked, or rapid de pressurisation
Cabin doors
4
1L, 1R
2L, 2R
Cockpit widow features
Handle to unlock, uncovers a locking pin in the slide - this must be flipped before closing, can only be opened from the inside
With the aircraft on the ground and shut down, a red light on an exit door indicates?
The slide is disarmed, and a cabin pressurisation differential exists
An amber door indication on the DOOR/OXY page means?
The door is open
An amber EMER EXIT indication on the DOOR/OXY page means?
The emergency exit handle is not in its position OR the emergency exit has been opened and the slide has been deployed
Maximum speed the cockpit windows can be opened?
200kt
Maximum wind for:
Passenger door operation?
FWD and AFT cargo doors?
Pax doors - 65dkt
Cargo doors - 40k
(unless AC nose into wind, or doors on leeward side then 50kt) doors must be closed before wind reaches 65kt
Is it possible to open the Cockpit sliding windows from outside?
No
What does the red indicator light on the inside of the cabin doors indicate when flashing?
The slide is disarmed and a pressurisation differential exists with the AC on the ground and the engines shut down
Max wind speed for a cabin door and cargo door?
65kt
40kt (must be closed by 65kt) - **CHECK
Max airspeed for opening a cockpit window?
200kt
How are you going to check cockpit windshield crack?
Fasten shoulder harness, touch the crack with a pen or gently with nail to determine which side of the windshield it’s on
What is the altitude limitation if there is no crack on Cockpit side (inner ply) in
event of windshield crack? And Why?
NO LIMITATION
The inner ply is not affected. Therefore, the window/windshield is still able to sustain the differential pressure up to the maximum flight level.
What actions are you going to take if there’s a crack on the cockpit side of the windscreen and why?
Oxy masks on, max alt FL230 /MEA/MORA
The inner ply is affected. The flight crew is not able to easily determine if other plies are
affected. Descend to FL 230/MEA and reduce differential pressure to 5 PSI .
Note: The maximum flight level is restricted to FL 230/MEA to obtain ΔP 5 PSI , without
resulting in an excessive cabin altitude and an EXCESS CAB ALT warning.
