Systems Procedure Questions not in SH Flashcards
How do you fast align an IR?
Select each ADIRS selector OFF and then back to NAV (one at a time) within 5 sec. Caution When performing a fast alignment with FLAPS 1, select the ADIRS OFF one at a time, and then back to NAV within 5 seconds, such that all 3 ADIRS are never OFF at the same time
When is a full alignment required of the ADIRU required?
Through Flights: a realignment is NOT normally required if deviation of any IRS
position from the FMGC position is less than 5 nm. (DATA/POSITION MONITOR
[1L]).
Crew Change: during a crew change with FLAPS 1 and no other conditions
requiring a complete alignment, the crew should perform a Fast IRS Alignment
(see below).
Complete IRS Alignment: A Complete IRS alignment (see Supplemental,
Complete IRS Alignment) must be performed for any of the following conditions:
• Before the first flight of the day
• When there is a crew change
• When any portion of the flight is conducted using Oceanic and Remote
Continental Navigation
• When the GPS is not available and the navaids coverage is poor on the
expected route, or
• When the GPS is not available and the expected flight time is more than 3
hours
Describe the process for a full alignment of the ADIRS when the temperature is above 35 C.
Confirm with Ground Personnel the area is clear prior to
pressurizing the hydraulic system. If Ground Personnel are not
present, a Flight Crewmember may clear the area.
Y ELEC PUMP..ON
NOTE: As the PTU is not inhibited in this condition, the Green system will also pressurize.
FLAPS ….. Zero
Y ELEC PUMP….Off
ADIRS selectors .. All Off (for more than 5 seconds), then NAV
FLAPS …….As Required
If the OAT is 35°C or above, the flaps may be set to 1:
CAUTION! Confirm with Ground Personnel the area is clear prior to
pressurizing the hydraulic system. If Ground Personnel are not
present, a Flight Crewmember may clear the area.
Y ELEC PUMP ……ON
As the PTU is not inhibited in this condition, the Green system will also pressurize.
FLAPS ….1
Y ELEC PUMP…Off
How would the flight crew command an evacuation? (
Make a PA announcement: “This is the Captain, EVACUATE, EVACUATE, EVACUATE”
Press the EVAC COMMAND pushbutton
When performing the AIRCRAFT POWERUP, what is the minimum Battery Voltage?
25.5 Volts
What do you do if it is below 25.5V?
A charging cycle of about 20 minutes is required.
BAT 1 and 2……AUTO
EXT PWR …….ON
Check on ELEC SD page that the battery contactor is closed and the
batteries are charging.
After 20 min:
BAT 1 and 2………OFF
BAT 1 and 2 Voltage …… Check above 25.5 V
When performing the BEFORE START FLOW (Electric Test), what are we looking for on the ELEC panel BAT check?
ECAM Control Panel, ELEC pb – Press
BAT 1 and 2 – OFF, then On
This action initiates a charging cycle of the batteries.
10 seconds after setting all BAT pbs on, check on the ELEC SD page that the
current charge of the battery is below 60 Amps and is decreasing. If charge of at
least one battery is not below 60 Amps, wait until the end of the charging cycle
of the batteries and perform this check again.
When is the APU GEN FAULT light inhibited?
APU speed too low
Line contactor OPEN after EXT PWR or ENG GEN takes over
With the APU green AVAIL light ON and the EXT PWR blue ON light illuminated, which system is powering the aircraft?
EXT PWR
Pressing the SYS pushbutton does what?
Inhibits all EGPWS warnings except TERR system
What does an amber FAULT light in the SYS pushbutton indicate on the GPWS panel?
Any failure of basic GPWS modes 1 through 5
What does LDG FLAP 3 ON light indicate?
“Too Low Flaps” inhibited for a Flap 3 landing
When would you press the FLAP MODE pushbutton?
To avoid nuisance warnings when landing with flaps less than 3
If the TERR mode failed does it affect the basic GPWS?
NO
What does the PASSENGER SYS ON light mean?
The signal to release the oxygen mask doors has been sent
