Systems for Communication Flashcards
Describe SELCAL
SELCAL is a system that alerts an individual aircraft that a ground station wishes to communicate with it. SELCAL signals are transmitted over HF or VHF, consisting of a combination of four preselected audio tones which takes approximately two seconds to transmit.
Each aircraft has a unique SELCAL code which, when transmitted, activates a cockpit call system.
What should happen if the aircraft SELCAL is u/s?
The aircraft should maintain a continuous listening watch on its subsequent flight until SELCAL again becomes available.
Where is the SELCAL code found in the FPL?
