What is resilience?
The ability to bounce back after being pressed/stretched -> ability to survive
What is self-organization?
The ability to structure themselves, to create new structure, to learn, diversify and complexify
What is the purpose of hierarchical systems?
The purpose of the higher levels is to serve the purpose of the lower levels. The lower levels are most important because they add value. The upper level makes sure this can be done best as possible.
What is meant with responsible organizations?
An organization that focuses on creating environmental, social and economic sustainability values. -> to become better for the environment
Where does a responsible organization needs to be careful for?
- Window-dressing
- Greenwashing
- Cherry picking
What is window-dressing?
Using CSR to compensate for an irresponsible business model
What is greenwashing?
Relabelling exisiting practices so that they appear to be responsible.
What is cherry picking?
Selective reporting on the indicators on which the organization already perfroms well to imrpove how the organization is perceived
What is a nonlinear effect?
The cause doesn’t produce a proportional effect, so the line is curvy/wiggly
What is a continuum?
All systems are connected; one systems’ end is the beginning if another system
What is a mental model?
The way someone pictures the world in their head. This nevver is/will be the real orld
