120 min
What does the Green bar on the Airspeed Indicator represent?
1.27vs
What is the trend vector?
Displays what airspeed the airplane will have in 10 seconds if no changes are made
Where are the Engine and APU danger areas?
APU exhaust Danger Area: 15 feet radius
Idle thrust: roughly 100 feet, 18 feet wide
Max Thrust: 170 feet, 18 feet wide
What is the STAB trim range?
+2 to -13 degrees
Describe the Engine
CF34 3B1 Hot and High
Single stage N1 provides bypass air and 80% of total thrust connected to 4 stage low pressure turbine. 14 stage axial flow compressor N2 section that is connected to a 2 stage high pressure turbine.
Off N2 are the 10 and 14th stage bleeds that provide pneumatic pressure for the Air conditioning PACKs and Anti-ice system. Also connected to N2 is the accessory gearbox
Name the 5 emergency doors
Overhead escape hatch Passenger door Galley service door Left over wing exit Right over wing exit
What class is the cargo compartment and how much cargo can it hold?
Ventilated class C
3,500 pounds
What is the Primary and Secondary purpose of the APU
Primary purpose is to supply AC electrical power
Secondary purpose is to supply bleed air for engine start and air conditioning
Discuss the Fire Protection System on the APU
Titanium housing prevents spreading
One dedicated halon fire extinguishing bottle
What is ITT
ITT - temperature of the gas between the high and low pressure turbine
How many volts are required to start the APU?
22v
What happens if the APU detects a fault or fire on the
GROUND
INFLIGHT
Ground: automatically shuts off
Inflight: APU will remain operational, must be manually shut down. APU will automatically shut down 60 seconds after landing
Describe the APU start sequence
APU IN BITE message appears on EICAS for 5 sec then disappears
RPM EGT and door position indications appear on EICAS
APU shutoff valve opens - EICAS message appears
XFLOW/APU fuel pump starts
Press START/STOP switchlight
Fuel and ignition introduced at 4%
Motor is de energized at 50%
At 99% the ignition is de energized and the APU SOV OPEN message disappears
After 4 sec: APU AVAIL light illuminates. This indicates the APU is ready for its load
How many volts is the APU starter?
28v DC
What 3 things happen when an APU fire occurs on the ground?
APU automatically shuts down
A horn sounds in the aft equipment bay to warn ground personnel
Bottle is discharged (5 sec delay)
What is the Normal PSI for the hydraulic system
3000 psi
What is considered low and high pressure for the hydraulic system?
Low 1800 psi
High 3200 psi
What powers each hydraulic system?
System 1 and 2: 1 Engine driven pump and 1 electrical ACMP
System 3: 2 ACMPs
How is each hydraulic system cooled?
System 1 and 2: via ram air duct and a heat exchanger (with fuel). On the ground an electric fan takes the place of ram air
System 3: no provision for cooling
What does hydraulic system 3 power?
The Landing Gear and Primary Flight Controls
What is the purpose of the hydraulic shutoff valve?
To prevent fluid from entering the engine during a fire
NOTE: system 3 has no SOV
Describe ACMP 1B and 2B
Purpose, switch position, general operating
ACMP 1B and 2B are the backups
These are normally selected to AUTO
These pumps are automatically SHED when their associated Generator fails
Relationship between the Generator and ACMP is offside
ACMP 2B is powered by the LEFT (#1) IDG
What hydraulic system does the ADG power?
3B
Movement of the _____will automatically activate the B pumps when in AUTO
Flaps
What is considered normal temperature for the hydraulic system?
Below 96 degrees
What is considered normal reservoir quantity for the hydraulic system?
45% to 85%
What are the triggers for the landing gear warning horn
One thrust lever at IDLE
Speed
Flap Setting
When can the Landing Gear warning horn not be muted?
Horn CANNOT be muted if: FLAPS 30 or more, both thrust levers IDLE
Describe what happens during the emergency extension of the landing gear
Gravity extension provided by LG PULL LEVER
Up locks are released and the Gear free falls
Nose Door will not close
Hydraulic System 2 is used to lock the MLG into place
No assistance needed to lock the NLG as it flows with the air flow
Mechanically, what is happening when the airplane is being steered
Electro-hydraulic servo valve takes input from the ECU and directs fluid from Hydraulic System 3 to the 2 nose wheel steering actuators
What is the nose wheel steering limit?
70 degrees left or right
What powers the inboard and outboard brakes?
Inboard is powered by HYD SYSTEM 3
Outboard is powered by HYD SYSTEM 2
