What are clinical manifestations of SIRS?

A
  1. Systemic wide vasodilation–> fluid leaking out of vessels (edema)
  2. Low BP
  3. Fever
  4. Elevated WBC
  5. Poor perfusion because tissues are not getting oxygen, glucose, or nutrients due to the leakage

What are the risk factors of SIRS?

A

BAIT PI

  1. Burns
  2. Anti inflammatory disorder
  3. immunosuppressed patient such as chemotherapy patients
  4. Trauma
  5. Pancreatitis
  6. IV drug users

A

Disseminated intravascular coagulation or DIC is a complication of SIRS and is the end stage of SIRS
