systeme musculosquelettique Flashcards
name all 5 parts of the skeleton (FRENCH)
- tete
- thorax
- moelle épinière
- membres supérieurs
- membres inférieurs
what are the two parts of the ‘tete’
- la crane
- la face
what is the function of the ‘crane’
covers/protects the brain, its liquids, and its membranes
how many bones in the crane?
8
what is the function of the ‘face’
gives form to the face, contains sense organs and permits the passage of nerves.
how many bones are in the face
14
what is the only moving part of the skull? what does it do
the ‘mandibule’ (lower jaw bone) which lets us talk and chew
what parts make up the thorax? FRENCH
le sternum et les cotes
what is the function of the thorax?
protects the lungs and the heart from shocks and damage.
what is a ‘muscle intercostaux’
spaces between ‘cotes’ (ribs) that help with breathing and contracting.
what parts make up the ‘colonne vertebral’ FRENCH
all vertébrés
what does the ‘colonne vertebral’ protect and how.
It has a hole in its middle that permits the passage and protection of the ‘moelle epiniere’
what is the function of the colonne vertebral?
to fold the body, to maintain balance/stability throughout the body and lets the ‘tronc’ do many mouvements.
what is the combination of the colonne vertebral and the thorax?
le tronc
what are the parts of the ‘membres superieurs’? FRENCH
la clavicule et l’omoplate
what is the function the membres superieurs?
moves in all direction to allow the ‘prehension’ of objects.
what are the parts of the ‘membres inferieurs’? FRENCH
l’os de bassin (l’os iliaque/l’os coxal)
what is the function of the membres inferieurs?
to take the weight of the body and to move an individual.
what is an “articulation”?
where two or more bones meet.
what is l’articulation imobile? GIVE AN EXAMPLE
bones that are solidly held together without any mouvement. (exp=the bones of the skull)
what is l’articulation semi-mobile? GIVE AN EXAMPLE
gives flexibility. (exp= articulation of the ‘vertébrés’)
what is l’articulation mobile? GIVE AN EXAMPLE
total mouvement (exp=’coud’ (neck))
what is ‘extension’ in the body
increases angle between two bones.
what is ‘flexion’ in the body?
decreases angle between two bones.
what is ‘abduction’ in the body?
increases distance between a member and the body
what is ‘adduction’ in the body?
decreases distance between a member and the body
what is ‘rotation’ in the body?
circular mouvement of a bone around an axe.
what is the difference between a tendon and a ligament?
a ligament is a connective tissu fiber that connects two bones together, while a tendon connects a bone to a muscle.
what is the function of a ligament in the body?
assures that two bones dont move to far.
what is the function of a tendon in the body?
moves bone structure of the body
what us an antagonist muscle?
a pair of muscles that preform opposing mouvements, which keep control over specific mouvements.
