Define Social Engineering
The art of manipulating or ‘conning’ individuals into giving away private information
What is a phishing email?
A email that tricks you into giving away personal information
What is shoulder surfing?
Shouldering involves direct observation of a user entering their security details
What is a brute force attack?
Where a attacker:
- Goes through a list of different passwords until it is correct
- Tries every combination of characters until the correct password is found
What is Spyware?
A software that aims to gather information about a person or organisation without their knowledge
What is Adware?
A form of malware, adware usually creates advertisements such as pop-up or ‘unclosable windows’
What is a SQL Injection?
A computer attack in which malicious code is embedded into a poorly-designed application then passed to the back end database. The malicious data then produces data base query results or random actions
Define Firewall
A program to prevent unauthorised network to or from a private network or internet
