Presentation
Early VS late
A
Painless ulcers called chancre. Primary syphilis
Secondary syphilis happens 3 months after initial.
Rashes, fever, malaise, arthralgia, headaches silver grey mucosal lesions.
Neurosyphilis and cardiovascular syphilis happens as well.

Investigations
A
PCR testing from active lesion, dark ground microscopy.
Blood serology for treponema antigen.
Can do CSF antigen test for neurosyphilis.

Management
A
Penicillin. Even is allergic, doxycycline.

Complication
A
Jarisch Herxheimer reaction with neuropsyphilis after treatment. Give steroids.
