synthetic cannabinoids and sympathomimteics Flashcards
Receptors involved and effects
- CB1 (CNS): inc mood euphoria, relaxation, creative thinking, sensory awareness
- CB2 (Periphery): immune modulation, anti-inflammatory
Which receptor does THC act on and how
Partial agonist of CB1
K2/Spiced Synthetic Cannabinoids pearls and lab abnormalitites
- minor changes in structure = big effects
- labs abnormalities: dec k, inc BG, creatinine kinase, WBC, inc creatinine, WBC,
K2/Spiced Synthetic Cannabinoids management
treat symptoms
- agitation: IV/IM lorazepam or Midazolam, antipsychs
- seizures: IV/IM lorazepam or diazepam, IM midazolam
- n/v
- dehydration - iv crystalloids
- HTN/tachy - IM/IV benzos
What is Cannabinoids Hyperemesis Syndrome and the moa
- excessive vomiting due to chronic use
- MOA dysregulation of endocannabionoid system, altered TRPV1 receptors
-happens month-years of continuous marijuana smoking
Management of Cannabinoids Hyperemesis Syndrome
- Hot showers + Capsaicin topical cream (activated TRPV1)
- Antinausea: Haloperidol > Ondansetron
- Benzos
- Fluids, electrolytes
Sympathomimetics aka Uppers substances
- Cocaine, Amphetamines, Bath Salts, Pseudoep, Nootropics
Sympathomimetics MOA
- MOA: inh NE + DA reuptake, or inc release of neurotransmitters
Sympathomimetics S/S
- Inc everything, including seizures + tremors
Sympathomimetics Treatment
Supportive Care
- Activated charcoal
- high dose benzos
- antihypertensives
- fluids
- antipsychs
- ice baths
- sodium bicarb
what are aes of sympathomimetics
- hyperthermia
- rhabdomyolysis
- dysrhythmias
