  • physical sensation of parasties crawling around the body or burrowing into the skin (formication)

  • neurodevelopmental disorder
  • similar to autism
  • developmental decline occurs after 1-2 years of age (following a normal initial development)
  • typical behaviours: screaming attacks, avoidance of eye contact, poor social interaction, loss of fine motor skills, developmental of stereotyped hand movements, ataxia

A
  • factitious /sztuczny/ disorder
  • people pretend to be ill or self-inflict a pathology in order to seek medical attention

*Munchausen by proxy → a different person is used for the same purpose (faking a pathology in a child)
