What is a synagogue?
A synagogue is where Jewish people prayer and worship god.
What do you call the eternal light and what is it?
The eternal light can also be called ner tamid, it is a light that never goes out it reminds Jews that God will never go away.
Why is there a curtain in front of the torah scrolls?
A curtain called the parroket is hung over the torah scroll cabinet. its not meant for decoration but its meant for ancient tabernacle and the temple in jerusalm.
Why do the women sit on the top level of the synagogue?
The women sit on the level higher because they are considered special since they give birth to children. They are placed higher so they are closer to God, so God can protect them.
who leads the prayers and blessings?
The Rabbi and Cantor leads the prayers and blessings and reads the Tora scroll.
what is the star of David?
The star of David is two triangles, the upright one points to God since we are looking up to him, and the upside-down triangle is pointing to us symbolising that God is protecting and looking down on us.
Why can’t people touch the torah scroll?
Jews can’t touch the torah scroll because they believe its disrespectful to God and they dont want to be rude.
