What is meant by ‘positive symptoms’?

A
- beliefs that are contrary

What are grandiose delusions?
A
- the individual believes they had remarkable qualities such as being famous or having special powers

What are perseuctory delusions?
A
- the individual reports believing that others are out to get them and trying to harm them in some way.

- the individual holds a belief that certain behaviours or language from others is being directed them persoanlly.

- psychological state characterised by a general lack of motivation to complete, unusual, self-motivated ativities such as work.

- when a person believes their thoughts do not belong to them and have implanted by an external source.

- Perceptual experiences that occur in the absence of external stimulation of the corresponding sensory organ.

- Various motor disturbances characterised by abnormality of movement and behaviour.

What is Diminished emotional expressions?
A
- Characterised by the patient showing less and less emotion in their general use of non-verbal communication, such as eye contact.

A
- characterised by fidgeting, childish messing about or dressing bizarrely.

What is disorganised thinking/speech (formal thought disorder)?
A
- inferred from a person’s speech which may be characterised by derailment.
- The person may switch from one topic to another and jumble seemingly related ideas, making it difficult to follow their trail or thought.
