First-person POV
Told by a narrator who is a character in the story and who refers to him- or herself as “I”
Second-person POV
Though rare, some stories are told using second-person pronouns (you). this casts the reader as a character in the story.
Third-person POV
the author is narrating a story about the characters, referring to them by name, or using the third-person pronouns “he,” “she,” and “they.”
Omniscient
told by narrator using third-person pronouns. This narrator is privy to thoughts and actions of all the characters in the story
Limited Omniscient narrator
when an author sticks closely to one character but remains in third person
Omniscient Narrator
the all-knowing voice in a story. The narrator has greater insight into the narrative events; context; and the characters’ motives, unspoken thoughts, and experiences, than any individual character does
Symbols
A setting, an object, or an event in a story that carries more than literal meaning and therefore represents something significant to understanding the meaning of a work to literature
Allegory
A literary work that portrays abstract ideas concretely. Characters in an allegory are frequently personifications of abstract ideas and are given names that refer to these ideas
Archetype
A cultural symbol that has become universally understood and recognized
Themes
Underlying issues or ideas of the work
Point of view
The perspective from which a work is told.
