Point of view (POV)
How the story is perceived or read
Second person POV
When the audience is included into the story, the narrator is in the story talking to the audience. Addresses the audience as ‘you’
First person POV
The story is told through the characters point of view. Uses I, we, my, mine
Third person POV
The story is told through a narrator that is not part of the story. Uses they’re, they, he, she
Omniscient
Knowing everything
Limited omniscient narrators
Only know and relate to what one major or minor character thinks or feels
Omniscient narrator
Knows that all characters think and feel
Symbols
objects, places, events, or characters that have meaning or significance
Allegory
A literary work in which abstract ideas appear in concrete ways
Archetypes
A very typical example of a certain person or thing.
