Plot
The plot of a story or novel consists of several basic events that form a whole narrative.
Narrative
A story
Exposition
At the beginning of a narrative, we learn important background info about the characters, the setting, and the situation.
Rising Action
Conflict becomes more clear and the main characters starts to experience complications.
Climax
The point of tension, suspense, and emotions peak.
Suspense
A state or feeling of excited or anxious uncertainty.
Comedy
Humorous ; funny
Conflicts
The problem that carries the main character in the story
Falling action
Details the affects of what happens at the climax; when the conflict gets resolved.
Denouement
Aftermath of the conflict and the very end of the story.
In medias res
“in the middle of the action”
Flashbacks
A point where the character or audience is brought back into a later point of time in a story or film.
Foreshadowing
Hinting at events to come.
Setting
Where the story takes place; where the characters are for the duration of the story
