Undistributed Middle Term
When middle term fails to link the two premises
Exclusive Premises
Both premises are negative
Affirmative Conclusion From A Negative Premise
If either premise is negative the conclusion must also be negative
Negative Conclusion From Affirmative Premise
If both premises are affirmative, the conclusion must be affirmative
Illicit Major
This is when the predicate is distributed in the conclusion and it is undistributed in the premise
Illicit Minor
This is when the subject is distributed in the conclusion when it is undistributed in the premise
Two Particular Premises
Both premises cannot be particular
A syllogism is sound when…
